A huge passenger flow arrived as expected, and yesterday's auto show was once "only people but no cars"
The number of visitors to the Shanghai Auto Show reached 150,000 yesterday. The number of visitors at Gate 1 was limited from 9 a.m., and it was crowded to buy tickets, eat, and use the toilet. The safety of the elderly and children at the exhibition was a concern.
Yesterday, the Shanghai Auto Show received 150,000 visitors, more than double the number of professional visitors on the previous two days. In 2009, the Shanghai Auto Show received only 120,000 visitors on a weekend.

Yesterday was the first day that the Shanghai Auto Show was open to the general public. It was a weekend, the weather was fine, and the enthusiasm of the visitors was unprecedentedly high. The Morning Post reporter learned from the organizer that the Shanghai Auto Show received a total of 150,000 visitors yesterday, more than double the number of professional visitors on the previous two days.
As visitors have a special liking for luxury cars, Hall N5 has always been the focus of the visit. At 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the queue to enter Hall N5 was hundreds of meters long, and it took nearly an hour to enter the hall. At one point, the hall was full of people but no cars.
Tickets:
The flow restriction started at 9 am
At 9 o'clock yesterday morning, a reporter from the Morning Post saw at the intersection of Longyang Road and Fangdian Road that the lane turning left from Longyang Road to Fangdian Road was always congested, and the number of people walking from the Longyang Road subway station to the auto show increased by nearly 50% compared to the day before, almost filling up the sidewalks and overpasses.
The large number of people brought great pressure to ticket sales and admission. At around 9 o'clock, all the ticket windows at Exit 1 on Fangdian Road were open, but they still could not meet the demand of ticket buyers. The organizers could only limit the flow of ticket buyers, allowing about 300 ticket buyers in each batch. By 9:40, the queue time required to buy tickets had exceeded half an hour, and the queue outside the serpentine passage was hundreds of meters long.
Meanwhile, at the No. 3 exit of the New International Expo Center located at Luoshan Road and Huamu Road, the reporter saw a different scene. Although the traffic was obviously heavier than usual, and vehicles turning left from Luoshan Road to Huamu Road even occupied a straight lane, the overall traffic was not congested. At around 9:30, there was no sign of queuing at the No. 3 exit.
Yesterday, there were still scalpers on the scene. According to the staff of the auto show ticket processing office, a lot of fake tickets were still found yesterday.
The reporter noticed that some genuine tickets had demagnetized magnetic stripes. The "News Media A" ID the reporter held could not be read yesterday after one day of normal use. When the reporter went to the ticket processing office to repair the ID, he met two or three visitors who had also purchased legitimate tickets but could not be read.
Luxury Car Gallery:
The queue to enter the museum lasted up to 1 hour
At this auto show, Hall N5 has always been the biggest hotspot. Yesterday, a large number of visitors went to Hall N5 for the "best cars", and the queues at peak times were hundreds of meters long. By 2 p.m., the queues in front of Hall N5 were hundreds of meters long, and it took more than an hour to enter the hall.
Around 10 o'clock yesterday, the reporter entered the N5 hall. Although there was no need to queue up to enter the hall, there were already a large number of visitors inside the hall, especially in front of the booths of top sports car brands such as Ferrari, Bentley, Maserati, and Bugatti. At the booth where Bugatti exhibited its "Bugatti Veyron" sports car, the crowd of visitors had blocked all the passages, and it took more than five minutes to walk a section of more than ten meters long. Inside the hall, the surging crowd filled the hall, and it was even difficult to see the high-end sports cars on display.
Although many visitors were prepared for the crowds in Hall N5, complaints about the crowds could still be heard from time to time. Since many parents brought their young children into the exhibition hall, they chose to let their children ride on their necks to avoid being trampled and to let their children see luxury cars.
But in fact, it was not just the children who could not see the cars. Since almost every visitor was holding a camera, DV, or camera phone, the space in front of the booth was always occupied. If visitors did not try to squeeze forward, they would not be able to see the cars at all. The reporter noticed that many children were carried on the shoulders of their parents to avoid the crowds, and some children were on their fathers' shoulders, holding cameras to take pictures of car models for their fathers.
audience:
More than doubled compared to the previous two days
The reporter learned that by 12:00 yesterday, the number of visitors to the auto show had exceeded 100,000. At 1:00 p.m. yesterday, the number of visitors had approached 120,000. At 6:00 p.m., the organizer learned that the Shanghai Auto Show received 150,000 visitors yesterday, more than double the number of professional visitors on the previous two days. In 2009, the auto show received more than 120,000 visitors on a weekend.
Yesterday, shuttle buses were very popular, with a very high occupancy rate and almost every bus was full.
At about 4 pm yesterday afternoon, the reporter waited for about 10 minutes at the shuttle bus meeting point outside Exit 3 and boarded a shuttle bus to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. After driving for about 15 minutes, the shuttle bus stopped near the parking lot of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. It takes about six or seven minutes to walk from here to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station on Metro Line 2. At the shuttle bus meeting point outside Exit 3 of the New Expo Center, the bus departure interval to Century Park, Century Avenue, Yanggao Road Parking Lot and other places is also about 10 minutes.
Hidden dangers:
Too many people, the restaurant toilet is packed
In addition to the crowded N5 hall, the number of visitors to other halls also rose steadily. With the surge of people, the hall's dining seats were full, and even the exhibition hall toilets had long queues. At the same time, many elderly people and young children visited the auto show in the crowd, which also brought some safety hazards.
At the E7 exhibition hall, the reporter saw that not only was there a long queue of more than ten people outside the women's restroom, but even the men's restroom was packed. The staff responsible for cleaning the restroom said helplessly: "There are too many people, and we can't even clean the floor."
There are fast food restaurants such as McDonald's and Papa John's in the exhibition hall, as well as several catering outlets that sell boxed lunches. However, when there are a lot of visitors, you have to queue for 10-20 minutes everywhere. There are also limited tables and chairs for dining. Most people can only eat on stools outside the exhibition hall, and many people eat while standing or even sitting on the floor.
More than 50 people were already queuing in front of the Pizza Hut takeaway ticket counter in the dining area. The reporter saw that the cheapest "chicken drumstick rice" cost 23 yuan, and some viewers complained that the price was too high. The more affordable convenience store products were "snatched up" by people, and it took 15 minutes to queue up to buy a box of instant noodles.
In fact, the most popular booths were those car brands that gave away eco-friendly bags and souvenirs. At the SAIC Volkswagen exhibition hall, nearly 50 visitors lined up to get information, but when they heard that "the eco-friendly bags were sold out," the line immediately dispersed. A middle-aged woman told reporters that she lined up to get the bags based entirely on the material of the bags rather than the brand of the car.
On the other hand, although the security guards kept shouting, asking visitors not to stay in the passages, in some popular exhibition halls, the "passages" were almost completely blocked by the flow of people. If an elderly visitor suddenly feels unwell, it is obviously not easy to leave the exhibition hall quickly for treatment.
